Editorial: Modern Engagement Photo Shoot - Charleston, SC

In April 2022, I had the opportunity to travel to Charleston, South Carolina to participate in a series of wedding-themed shoots with a group of talented photographers, led by the fabulous women of The Styled Collective.

For one of the shoots, we wanted to reimagine an engagement photo session. A lot of times with engagement photos we see a couple in an organic outdoor setting (a field with trees, florals, etc), so for this shoot we wanted to show a more "modern" interpretation of that, with a city as the backdrop.

Charleston, South Carolina isn't just any kind of city though - Charleston is a vibe. The city of Charleston has a rich history and culture, and that is reflected in its' beautiful architecture. For this shoot we found the most beautiful buildings in downtown Charleston made of marble & stone, that really gave us the kind of settings that would show off our couple in a modern way.

I had been given some inspiration from Hannah + Leah of The Styled Collective before the trip, which was very much a Hailey Bieber with sleek hair & a smokey eye vibe for this particular shoot:

So, on our model Meghan, I focused on radiant skin and popping her gorgeous eyes with some depth on the lids. For her hair, I definitely felt like the bun was the way to go, and I accented it with several pearl hair pins from Hair Comes the Bride.
